The growth of pigs over the group
Obviously the pigs which leave the batch last have grown the slowest
But how much? When breeding and nutrition companies quote "growth" rates - are they talking about the first pigs to leave, the average pig or unlikely, the last to leave?
This spreadsheet illustrates some of the growth rate changes that can occur over a "typical" batch of pigs
It also illustrates who much the average will need to change to make a difference in the pig flow building requirements
More important than growth rate is food conversion - if the pigs grow faster but eat more to get to the same weight - it makes little difference if you have the space available and this "advantage" will actually reduce your profitability. But if you can increase pig meat output then profitability can be restored - but then note legal/advised stocking rate issues.
Prefer to look at growth rate since weaning (or some other time frame)?
